Andy Owen-Jones is panel guest at ITB Destination Day on March 6
“Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show”.
Driven by the changing behaviour of travellers experience is the key motivation for many travellers today. Consumers increasingly look to amass experiences rather than things. Travel gets redefined in many aspects, and today’s travellers demand a higher level of personalised service that airlines, hotels, and tour groups around the world seek for solutions to provide.
Exchange about latest trends with Andy Owen-Jones at ITB
On March 6th, Andy Owen-Jones will be discussing at the ITB Convention, how the changing behaviour of travellers is transforming the travel industry.
The panel discussion “Travel Experiences Of The Future: Tailored, Data-Based, Relevant” focuses on the changing expectations of the modern customer seeking tailored travel offers, enriching and personal experiences. With leading experts, the session will unveil various success factors from innovative technologies, intelligent use of customer data, to deep customer insights.
“Experiences” should be used in customer service, rather than as a buzzword
More travellers mix the classic sightseeing with unique local experiences. Of course, travelers heading to Paris want to discover the Eiffel Tower, but they’re also looking for local experiences like food tours to enhance their trip. It is not enough that a destination is unique, what also counts is that the activities they join make them feel like a local. And they may learn a new skill while they travel – whether it be how to bottle wine in Spain, understanding the story behind the coffee bean in Ethiopia or making soba noodles in Japan.
“Already while searching for inspiration on a new holiday, customers are happy to provide their user data if they see that it brings a positive result. The promise of personalisation is that it can provide unique results that would otherwise never have come to the attention of the user.”, says Andy Owen-Jones, who sees a need to gain much more information on the interests of a user in order to propose to him the most appropriate experiences.
Andy Owen-Jones is highly experienced in the travel industry and focuses particularly on the future-oriented area of AI-driven personalisation. Before founding bd4travel, Andy CEO worked for the leading German leisure specialist TravelTainment and Amadeus.
